On the second Sunday of May the Maltese population celebrate Mother’s day. On this day we celebrate the mother/s of the family, as well as motherhood, maternal bonds, and the influence of mothers in society.
In Malta, mother’s day is usually a sunny , Beautiful day on the second weekend of May, and on this day the Maltese families usually enjoy taking their mother out for lunch in the sun. This is highly enjoyed in the south of Malta including Marxaxlokk, where one would eat fresh sea food with a beautiful view of our Maltese ocean.
Another enjoyment on the day would be going to our golden sandy beaches all over the Island, where most would be swimming for the first time in 2017. Sunbeds and umbrellas will be up for an afternoon on the beach. A lot of families also go to the shopping centres in the morning to either find a late mother’s day present, or go and have a look at the shops.
